This Verification of Competency (VOC) tests the skills and knowledge required to operate Vertical lift & Scissor lift operations carry and place materials. 

The Verification of Competency (VOC)  applies to those working in site based roles (Western Australia Only)

This Verification of Competency (VOC) is essential if you are conducting the operation of a scissor lift and/or vertical lift mobile plant. The Verification of Competency (VOC) covers the operational procedures of the equipment, not including any RTO units which may be required.

It specifies the mandatory requirements of plan and prepare for vertical lift operations, operate in line with established requirement's, lift, carry and place materials to complete work activity, select, remove, fit and use attachments for a vertical lift, barricading prior to the use of an vertical lift, work safe practices and prepare to relocate and conduct housekeeping activities.

It encompasses responsibilities for, health, safety and risk management processes at all operative levels and adherence to safety practices as part of the normal way of doing work.

Completing the Verification of Competency (VOC) is essential if you are conducting the operation of a scissor lift and/or vertical lift mobile plant. 

Verification of Competency (VOC) will confirm an individual's skills and knowledge to carry out and complete the use of an vertical lift and ensure procedures and to perform safe work practices. It consists of real-life practical skills and knowledge to allow the participant to be assessed as competent in demonstrating the ability to operate equipment and/or undertake Vertical lift operator role.

Course Delivery

This course can be delivered/assessed in the workplace or at facility organised by the training provider.

Course Durations

Course durations can vary for multiple reasons, so the durations below are the minimum possible amount.

Face-to-Face Face to Face contact time of at least 2 Mins

Physical capability to be able to meet the demands of the practical demonstration skills including prestart check of equipment and setup of barriers (Important note: To issue a verification of competency certificate all theory and practical must be completed).

Physical fitness – Participants must have the physical capacity to complete a practical demonstration of a simulated dig at a construction site location.

Theory: Students must be able to respond verbally to questioned asked by the assessor / subject matter expert to complete the pre-course theory questions. Students must also be able to show a log book with a minimum of 50 hours practical training within there employment.
